Huff Revved Up For BTCC Thriller
Rob Huff heads to his favourite track of Thruxton in Hampshire this weekend (10/11 April) buoyed by an encouraging three day test in Albacete last week. Along with his SEAT Sport team-mate Jason Plato, the pair completed a total of 944 trouble-free miles in a pair of ETCC-spec. Toledo Cupras, in preparation for the Green Flag MSA British Touring Car Championship which kicks off at Thruxton on Saturday.
Robert said: “It was a very productive test, we’re definitely going in the right direction and we had a trouble-free run. The car is very reliable and responsive to changes. I’m also very happy with how all the team moved forward and on a personal note it was good for me to try different camber, diff and ride-height settings.”
Albacete was the longest and final private test before the opening round of the BTCC at Thruxton on April 11, and included both technical set-up and race distance runs. Over the three days, Rob completed 534 miles and Jason did 410 miles – without experiencing any mechanical problems whatsoever.
Twenty-five year-old Rob from Newmarket will make his series debut following his victory in last year’s Holiday Inn SEAT Cupra Championship in which he took three wins and three second places and is relishing the opportunity to race against the vastly experienced Plato who he considers to be his main opposition. “My goal for the year is to beat my team-mate Jason (Plato) a couple of times, he said. “I’d expect to be say half a second slower in the first half of the season and getting equal at the mid-season point. After that I’ll be looking to out qualify him and beat him in the races. He is the man to beat and as my team-mate the only real benchmark for me.”
