Nearly Ready
To Go

The weather for Qualifying this evening might make things interesting - TotalMotorSport's tame meteorologist (actually Klaas Zwart's helicopter pilot, Gary Butcher) tells us that the forecast between 5 and 10pm this evening is for light showers, with a 30% chance of thunderstorms. With just over an hour to go, it doesn't look as though rain is imminent - far from it in fact, as it looks like a perfect summer's evening.

Looking ahead to the next few days, a cold front coming in may bring some rain up to Saturday morning, but the best estimate is for better weather again for the race, as High Pressure returns.

One key figure this week might be Audi new boy Christian Pescatori, who is looking forward to the drive of a lifetime in the #2 Audi R8.

Drafted into the factory Joest squad after compatriot Michele Alboreto was killed in testing, Christian is aware that Italian fans are watching him closely. "I didn't know Michele well but many of my friends did. I'd like to do well for him, for the team and for myself"

Who knows, by 4pm on Sunday we may have a second "Pesca" taken to the hearts of the Le Mans faithful. Look closely at his helmet as he chats with Graham Goodwin.

And here's the whole Audi squad, privateer and factory drivers together.

Lemarie, Coronel, Johansson, Pirro, Kristensen, Biela, Capello, Aiello, Pescatori, Herbert, Kelleners, Theys. Which trio do you fancy for the win?
