Raceday
Warmup

It's Saturday and it's raceday, so that's got that little detail sorted out. It's also bloody cold. Fans were here in numbers yesterday, despite the overcast and the temperature - which has dropped this morning. At least it's not snowing, which it is at Brno for the FIA GT meeting (race on Monday).

This was the front left of the Johansson Audi after yesterday's indiscretion. "Driver over-enthusiasm," was one team member's explanation.

The #42 BMW has a fresh engine in it this morning, and is running well. It will start from the back. 25 cars have set times, so that's the second Ascari that won't start (no spare engine).

The two Joest Audis are in the high 22s and low 23s, no one else quicker than a 1:25, which looks more than a little ominous for the race. Peter Radcliffe - doing a fine job gathering info. - has discovered that the two silver Audis are running different tyre compounds, the Biela / Pirro car running the same as the Gulf car.

The Chrysler and the Courage are in the 1:25s, no one else better than a 1:27.

The Graf / Salles Panoz is setting consistent times at last, but Brabham was seen going slowly with his hand aloft. Bruno Lambert has been a gravel visitor in the RML Saleen.

The closest times are among the top four GT cars. The BMW / Job scrap could be the highlight of this one.

The next report from Donington will be a full race report some time after the event, with results posted immediately after the chequered flag.
